us into the Ocean Palace experience with a gourmet combination of four delicacies – pancake rolls, deep fried prawns, satay chicken and Moo Shu’ pork. The second course of crispy aromatic duck felt like coming home,
as did the huge main selection of chicken with cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce, sizzling Mandarin fillet of beef in tomato sauce, fried prawn Cantonese style, seasonal vegetables, and Young Chow special fried rice. For the standard of food, its freshness, flavour, and generous quantities, it was incredible value. And the wine list in Ocean Palace is also one to savour – a passion of the Sandbanks Hotel managing director – so the choice is varied and allows for real pairing.
There are 180-degree sea views and sociable round tables with a Lazy Susan in the middle of each, which is indeed about the only clue as to the type of menu on offer. That is until you are welcomed by one of the original smiling Ocean Palace team and then it all makes sense.
Welcome back Ocean Palace, we hope the pop-up becomes a permanent-up and thank you FJB for allowing it to happen – the best Chinese in Dorset in quite the best location making it very popular with old and new clients, so much so that booking is essential for dinner
