Enjoy has contributed over the years to the exceptional work that the
international humanitarian charity Action Against Hunger takes on, in terms of
nutrition, emergencies and education.
It fundraises at prestige events, running marathons and dedicated celebrity events.
Since its creation in 1995, Action Against Hunger has supported international programmes by raising funds, recruiting field experts, campaigning for change and raising awareness on child hunger. In addition, a number of expert teams based in the UK work to enhance the quality and impact of its work and it develops innovative solutions to child hunger by harnessing the power of information and knowledge.
It also harnesses the passion of many chefs and restaurateurs, none more remarkable than Chef Ken Hom OBE – who is an ambassador for the charity and who works with many of Enjoy’s contributors...
How can you get involved?
There are many UK initiatives that readers can get involved with such as the annual flagship campaign Love Food Give Food that runs every year during September and October. Restaurants support us by adding a £1 optional donation onto customers’ bills throughout the two months, and their customers kindly donate when they eat out at participating venues. Last year nearly 400 restaurants took part in the Love Food Give Food campaign and raised an incredible £470,000.
This was the most that has ever been raised through the campaign, with plans to raise even more each year, including gaining growing support from restaurants in the south of the UK within the Enjoy region.
Other ambassadors include Raymond Blanc and Bill Knott, alongside long-standing support from restaurants such as The Pig, MEATLiquor, Pho and Carluccio’s.
To conclude... 1 in 8 children worldwide go to bed hungry every night... and hunger causes more childhood deaths than malaria, Aids and TB combined...
