...a glimpse of the English Channel in the distance as I top the South Downs, and on to a postcard British sea front – ‘oh we do love to be...
...staying at a Harbour Hotel!’
With 11 stylish Harbour Hotels within the Enjoy region, we can’t get enough of the chic environment, cool accommodation, lush leisure facilities and uber-desirable locations.
This trip was riddled with pleasure and pain – a two-night stay in a sea view room with the cosmopolitan city at hand, who could ask for more? This trip however, involved running 26.38 miles around the county for a spot of sightseeing!
You can always tell how good a hotel is at its busiest. The Brighton Marathon weekend is always busy – but as the hottest one to date, the crowds descend and the Harbour team are on point!
The spa facilities are fascinating, out of the ordinary and there’s a fabulous use of the underground labyrinth – a pool with a good length for a swim, hot tubs in cellars
and a hydro unit – and at mile 22 these were things that dreams are made of.
The hotel is modern, the staff funky, in touch and the facilities clipped.
The bedroom furnished with sherry and gin – that’s for après-marathon night – plump bedding, sparkling bathrooms and a view to die for with two piers, one promenade and a sunrise and sunset to boot – quite special.
There is a jaunty west-facing function room, a bar that Knightsbridge would be proud of and the Jetty restaurant – thank you Alex Aitken for spreading your love throughout the Harbour Hotel group, remarkably consistent in standard and menu choice.
The staff in the public areas are engaging and friendly
– this trip was taken solo and I could have been staying with besties. I felt relaxed, safe and part of the fun – when I wanted to.
Breakfast is plentiful and bright. The marathon was hot and dark (mentally) but a success. Back to the Jetty after 4hrs**minutes, medal-clad for celebrations with family, a swim, hot tub and dinner fit for a king – read more about that delicious experience on the next page...
The Brighton Harbour Hotel is a gem – a relatively new gem. Go into The Lanes, onto the beach, into the Jetty and onto the pier – and if you must, run the marathon... Brighton is a better place thanks to this newcomer... 01273 323221
