hazelnuts and lamb jus. The lamb is perfectly pink, served with delicate respect to presentation and to the meat – this is something that runs through the way the kitchen deals with each dish, there is care and it is palpable.
The pan-fried fillet of gurnard and (a massive) king prawn with Asian salad and peanut, coconut and lime purée with balsamic is a picture – enough to make any Mediterranean taverner proud! It is tactile, finger-bowl fulfilling and generous.
The fruit crème brûlée was publicised by our waitress and she was in the know – it was just beautiful – on the eye and the palate – the strawberries as fresh and sweet as the creamy brûlée...
